Becoming a Certified Classical Pilates Instructor using Romana’s Pilates Certification
Romana’s Pilates is modelled on the original teachings of Joseph and Clara Pilates. There is no other source that is as closely aligned to the original teachings anywhere in the world. Romana’s teachers are highly respected in the industry and offer the highest level of Pilates instruction.
Established in 1998, Cynthia Lochard’s Pilates Method Studio (based in Sydney) is the headquarters for Romana’s Pilates Instructor Training Certification in the Australasia Region and has certified hundreds of instructors worldwide.
Cathryn Langford is a Teacher Trainer (Level 4). She is able to support and supervise teacher training in Melbourne, in conjunction with the Sydney headquarters.
Instructor Training Program (ITP)
How to apply to for the Instructor Training Program
To begin the program, students must demonstrate proficiency at the intermediate level on all key pieces of Pilates equipment and apparatus. In addition, students must be able to apply the six principles of Pilates:
- Control
- Centering
- Concentration
- Precision
- Breath
- Flow
STEP 1 – Enrolment requirements
All Applicants must have completed a minimum of 75 hours of experience in the Pilates Method.
Hours need to be logged and signed off by a certified Romana’s Pilates Instructor.
Applicant should be able to show competence with various Gratz apparatus at an intermediate level.
A Doctor’s Release stating physical competence.
STEP 2- Application
Applicant must provide training centre with current resume.
Recent passport photo.
Letters of recommendation from a current employee, training instructor or other.
Your ITP application form.
STEP 3- Initial Assessment/ readiness action plan
Applicant must schedule an interview with Cynthia Lochard to discuss your readiness and action plan.
Your goals and ambitions once certified regarding how you intend on completing the program hours, as well as your knowledge and understanding of Romana’s Pilates.
Initial Assessment – Applicant will be assessed by a level 4 Teacher Trainer (or higher). This assessment will require you to perform a personal workout unassisted at the Intermediate level. This will determine your knowledge, competence and safety in the Pilates Method.
